Prevent noxious weeds in the pot this spring using Lentse & Slingerland Potgrond’s cover materials

It is becoming increasingly difficult to combat weeds in pots, a situation mainly due to restrictions imposed on the use of many crop protection agents. Covering pots using organic materials is an effective and sustainable alternative. Here is a list of the main options available from Lentse & Slingerland Potgrond.

Herbaedeck – our best seller:
easily applied (mechanically) to pots
very limited breakdown due to the hard material
highly effective against noxious weeds and mosses, including liver moss
high ornamental value for sales
layer thickness of 1.5 to 2 cm advised.

BVR:
added fibres for extra stability
less likely to fall from pots
2 cm thick layer advised.

Rice hulls:
fine, light product
effective for covering trays of young cuttings
the use of rice hulls as a mulch for outdoor culture is discouraged because the material tends to be blown away easily
A layer of between 0.5 and 1 cm is sufficient to effectively suppress weeds
