History
Our roots go deep into the floodplain of the river Waal near Nijmegen. At the beginning of the 20th century, in the little town of Lent, the first clay was dug and turned into substrate by adding peat. New substrates have been developed through the years using other types of raw material.
Lentse Potgrond substrates were soon being transported over greater distances, and a production site on the waterfront was selected to facilitate the growing supply of raw materials.
Slingerland Potgrond also arose from the need for substrates, specifically for the horticultural industry in the western part of the country. Slingerland Potgrond has made a difference through the years by providing the best quality, something which eventually led to them becoming the largest supplier of orchid substrates.
Following the merger between Slingerland Potgrond and Coöperatief Tuinbouwcentrum Lent, the two businesses began a very intensive practical collaboration, each under their own brand name, until 2009 saw the merger with Horticoop. Despite this, the need remained to stay close to our origins, that is to say: substrate.
HAVE FUN GROWING.
